The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has launched an action to visit all municipalities in Serbia with view to map key challenges within the mandate of the Ministry. On the basis of the information collected after two month visits to the local self-governments a database will be designed with information providing clear social image of municipalities across Serbia. Anticipating possible solutions to issues related to employment, labour and social policy, the Ministry seeks to be proactive in addressing unfavourable effects of emerging crisis, and simultaneously provide assistance to the most deprived categories of population.

Under the motto “SOLIDARITY”, Minister Rasim Ljaljić, with the team of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, has planned to make tour across Serbia and visit local self-governments to take stock of issues and challenges and agree possible interventions. Also, one of the goals of this action is to encourage social responsibility and companies to invest into socially responsible corporate activities oriented towards real priorities in 2009 in the filed of employment, labour and social policy. Furthermore, the Ministry expects donor community to keep investing in development and reform of social welfare in Serbia.

The  “SOLIDARITY” needs to find solutions that will enable the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy to respond effectively in provision of support to children, the elderly, sick, workers, etc.

The Ministry builds on the initiated reform processes in the filed of labour and social welfare in order to promote and enhance the system and align it with international standards as appropriate.

Solidarity as a concept represents key lever that can be driver of joint action of all segments of society in two significant sectors – social welfare and labour.
